Call for probe over RBS ‘dash for cash’ leak

Fresh allegations that the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) exploited small businesses during the financial crisis should be investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), according to a Glasgow lawyer who believes the bank abused its “dominant” position.


RBS faces scrutiny from MPs after leaked documents suggested executives sanctioned efforts in 2008 to recover money from customers.


One described it as a “dash for cash”. The emails add weight to claims by former RBS customers that the bank’s global restructuring group (GRG) artificially forced them into financial distress, enabling the bank to strip them of property and other assets.…
